Frugal Tips and Ideas

Great Facebook site for Frugal Military Families!!  Frugal Military Living  Thanks Nancy S.

Challenge yourself each day to see how many creative new ideas you can generate!! Learn to think ‘outside the box’ and don’t allow yourself to be limited by preconceived notions. You’ll be surprised at how much fun and rewarding it can be!

Don't Set Your Goals Too High! When you decide to start "living the frugal life", don't set your goals so high that you get overwhelmed. Set small obtainable goals and work your way up!

Vinegar is one of the most versatile ingredients known to man. It can be used to fight dandruff and dry scalp when mixed with equal parts warm water. A rinse with equal parts cold water will make your hair shine without expensive shine serums. A tablespoon in 8 oz of water makes an excellent toner for your skin. A... cup in your laundry’s rinse cycle will make your whites brighter.

Be creative with your gift wrapping! Use recycled newspaper, food cartons (dry goods), potato/onion sacks. Use a shirt (or any other item of clothing) to wrap a smaller gift - two gifts in one!

Send off for free items and samples and use them to make gift baskets! I made a basket for my sister's b-day: Basket (.10 yard sale), Full size shampoo, handmade soap sample, trial size lotion & shower gel, bracelet (yard sale .25) and candle. Total cost: .35

Reduce your gas bill by grouping your errands and only driving when you need to. For even more savings, consider biking or walking when you don't have far to go.
